THE VISION

A New Vision, Transforming Elder Living is a $2.1 million capital campaign that includes:

  • Site development and construction of two Green House homes on the new Willow Ridge campus across from Maple Crest Senior Living Village.
  • Renovating a portion of Mennonite Memorial Home to provide short-term rehabilitation rooms in a private and comfortable environment.

A Green House is a skilled nursing care home where ten elders enjoy private bedrooms and shared community space. Click here to learn more about Green House homes.  Elders who transitioned from traditional nursing care to Green House living have shown improvement in overall well-being.  Greater social interaction, increased mobility, lessened depression, and increased appetite are a few of the improvements replicated again and again.  Marked by individual choice in an engaging lifestyle, Green House living provides many opportunities to experience life at home.  In the Green House, each elder has more freedom to choose meals, schedules, and activities that enhance purposeful living.  Click here to watch an exciting video exploring 4 open Green House homes in operation.

A residential rehabilitation unit with private rooms is a need that has been strongly expressed in the Bluffton community.  We are responding by making plans to renovate a portion of the 1972 Mennonite Memorial Home (MMH) building to provide this service.  This will take place after the Green House homes are opened.

Ways You Can Help Transform Our Community

  • Pray for our community and staff
  • Share this project with others
  • Consider financially supporting the elders at MHCO in one of the following ways:
    • A Grand for a Grandparent: We are seeking 30 individuals to contribute $1000 each.  This represents the thirty rooms that will be created through the campaign.
    • $250 for 250: We are seeking 250 donors to contribute $250.  This represents a gift of $250 for each of the elders we serve.
